Though I am part of such a large organisation, I have never felt like a tiny lost fish in a big aquarium. Here, we all matter, and all our voices are heard.
About 7 years ago, I was working in the Banking industry as a frontline staff. I had been there for over 3 years but I didn’t find the work fulfilling. I was searching for greater meaning in my professional life. My relentless search on various job portals led me to the QI Group. There was something different about the company. It spoke to me in a way that none of the others had.
Little did I know then that I would become so attached to a work place. The philosophy of RYTHM, having Gandhi as a corporate icon, policies that encourage sustainability, and the focus on making a social impact, these are all things that really influenced my thinking. I feel like I am a part of something bigger and QI is more of a second 理财投资产品home to me than a work place.
Though I am part of such a large organisation, I have never felt like a tiny lost fish in a big aquarium. Here, we all matter, and all our voices are heard. I once made a proposal that all front line staff should wear a blazer to work to project a more professional image and was surprised at how well received this suggestion was. The staff benefits, work environment, the opportunities to learn and room to grow, are limitless. I joined the QI Group as a receptionist, and then moved to the administration department as an executive and today I have grown into a team leader.
My other passion is make-up and grooming. I love that my workplace allows me to incorporate my passion into my work. I am helping with grooming my other colleagues in the front line who serve as the face of the company to anyone who visits us. I help them look good and feel good about themselves, which really shows when you communicate with guests. I could never have imagined that my love for make-up would be such a useful skill at my workplace that allows me to help others.
One of the things I have learnt here is never to give up. Try and try again till you get better at what you do and get the results you want. It took me ten years of consistent practice to perfect my make-up skills. I always tell myself that delivering subpar results at work is like sending someone off with their makeup half done. Our founders are so encouraging of our personal growth. They inspire me to grow and go after my dreams. They have inspired me to be more than what I thought I could be!”
