PJ City FC’s connection with the QI Group goes back a decade, when the club was still in the Malaysian third division and QI Founder Vijay Eswaran pledged to back it full-time if it made it to the Super League.
As the city where the QI Group has been headquartered for over 20 years, Petaling Jaya will always be close to the company’s heart. In January 2019 the Group’s love affair with the city got even deeper with the acquisition of the Malaysia Super League team, Petaling Jaya City Football Club (PJ City FC).
Today that promise has been kept and PJ City FC players proudly sport the word QNET on their chest as they go out to conquer the field in their club’s colours. But the QI Group’s support is beyond mere money and corporate sponsorships; what the company is aiming to do is build a truly community-centric team reflecting the proud city of Petaling Jaya.
PJ City FC is largely made up of young men who have neither the opportunity nor the aptitude for higher education but who possess talent and skill that need to be channeled positively. By turning these young men into champions with a passion for excellence, the QI Group intends to create role models for the 13 million football fans in Malaysia.
